The necessity for military professionals to take time out of the daily schedules to study military history is paramount to the success of future operations. History has demonstrated numerous situations, conflicts and operations that leaders can exploit when preparing for upcoming missions. The failure of military leaders to prepare for upcoming operations by studying military history has led to unnecessary mission failure and the loss of millions of dollars of equipment and, more importantly, the loss of Soldiers lives.
