As the operational tempo of the U.S. Army prevents professional development, leaders at every level need to take the time out of their busy schedules to study military history. Leaders can benefit from the past experiences of others and apply them to the current military operation. Through the experiences of others, lessoned learned, cultural differences and current threat situation, leaders may possibly prevent repeated mistakes from occurring. Included are examples from past military operations that demonstrate and show a direct correlation of how they relate to current military operations that the U.S. Army is facing.
