I will argue why it is important for Soldiers to study military history. As a basis for my argument, I will discuss the Freedmen Bureau and explain its mission. I will discuss why the Freemen Bureau was not successful. I will explain counterinsurgency operations of the US Army against the rebel Army of the Philippians. To support my argument, I will present two different approaches the US Army implemented to fight the insurgency. Additionally, I will discuss the problems the US encountered and the tactics used to defeat the insurgents. I will discuss the counterpoints and then discuss lessons learned. I will then finish with the conclusion.
