Thesis Statement: What is military actionable intelligence and how has it positively and negatively affected the outcome of past battles? According to Websters dictionary, intelligence is defined as the product resulting from the processing of information concerning foreign nations, hostile or potentially hostile forces or elements, or areas of actual or potential operations. This term can also be applied to the activity, which results in the product and to the organizations engaged in such activity. The Army is that organization that is engaged in collecting, analyzing, cross coordinating, and leveraging any and all viable intelligence in an effort to positively affect our overall mission (Webster, unk.) It is imperative that intelligence is collected on the enemy and the battle space prior to engaging into the decision making process. This is accomplished through functional areas.
