By studying history, NCOs can be better prepared for the future. Looking at the American Revolution, the Philippine Insurrection and Task Force Smith, one can see similarities that that apply today. Each teaches a different lesson that can help NCOs perform their duties better than they would have otherwise. Failure to study history and how an event parallel causes us to put our own Soldiers lives at stake when we may have been able to foresee the actions of our enemy or ourselves.
