Thesis Statement: Military History should be studied by leaders to possible save the lives of their Soldiers, as a way of preventing some of the same mistakes, and possible ensuring victory or success in battle. Abstract: Studying military history is very critical. Military History should be studied so leaders can possible save the lives of their Soldiers, as a way of preventing the same mistakes over and possible determining the outcome of battle. The Battle of Gettysburg revealed that General Hook failure to apply lessons learned was the reason for his defeat in other battles. The Reconstruction Period show how difficult cultural change can be and what people will do to prevent change. Today in Iraq, we are using some of the same techniques used in previous battles years ago. Without studying military history there can be no lesson learned and the same thing might continue to repeat itself.
