THESIS: Individual acts of heroism in leading, mentoring, and training Soldiers have instilled confidence and courage, which have given American forces superiority over the enemy, both yesterday and today. Abstract: The defeated American forces at the Battle of Kasserine Pass confirmed that an ill-prepared U.S. military led to the German victory. According to Carr (2003), the Battle of Kasserine Pass showed the vulnerability and weakness of the American military. However, ingenuity, determination, and moral courage of the WWII Soldier quickly adapted to the German threat. The same has happened in the war against terrorism. Similarly, the American military quickly learned and changed its methodology when confronting an elusive enemy. NCOs have remained a critical player today as they did in WWII.
