Throughout history wars have been fought and sometimes won based on doctrine from past wars. There are those who believe that knowing past doctrine, strategies, and tactics can help us win our next wars. This paper proposes that studying military history is an important contributing factor to the success of our military programs and operations, and recommends the mandatory integration of military history in military training and education programs.
