This will discuss the application of violence in the asymmetric warfare arena and the problems it presents for the Army and its Soldiers. Examples from some of my personal experiences during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM (OEF) V and VII will be used to discuss this dynamic of war. The application of violence or the use of force, as they pertain to friendly forces against insurgent forces, insurgent forces against friendly forces, friendly forces applying force against the population, and insurgent forces against the population is presented.
