The premise of this paper is to demonstrate the superior flexibility, versatility, and suitability of the men, weapons and equipment of light infantry division to a heavy infantry division in the global war on terrorism. Additionally, the ability to work with Special Operations Forces is less of a challenge. These traits give the commander a greater range of options on today's battlefields in Iraq and Afghanistan.
