Saudi Arabia is economically important to the United States because of its vast oil reserves. Saudi Arabia has roughly about 25% of the world's oil reserve, and they also are the largest exporter of petroleum (CountryWatch, 2006). As a member of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Saudi Arabia has a large position in the amount of oil being produced and exported throughout the world, which can easily influence the price of oil per barrel (OPEC, 2007). A stable relationship between the United States and Saudi Arabia is economically important both countries.
