Thesis Statement: The current Army Physical Fitness Program does not train, assess nor prepare Soldiers for today's combat missions. Although it is commonly believed that noncommissioned officers from within a formation can conduct physical fitness training; in reality the responsibility for conducting and preparing these training programs should be given to the Master Fitness Trainer. The depth of knowledge these Master Fitness Trainers provide help their units to correctly assess their performance and develop programs tailored to suit the training needs of both the unit and the individual. The responsibility to properly train and supervise units in physical fitness must be retained by those NCOs specifically trained and certified to do so: the Master Fitness Trainers.
