This paper will address how Information Operations (IO) and the media have become a primary war fighting capability and are now considered military core competencies. Our goal is to highlight the need to aggressively pursue the execution of information operations' strategy and doctrine by educating our leaders and Soldiers about the internet's role in information operation and the main stream media. Transforming doctrine into an operational reality has proven to be a challenge and the training programs are slowly catching up with the pace of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
