With military operations being conducted in Afghanistan and Iraq and there seems to be no end in sight for either, high levels of stress are taking a toll on military equipment and readiness. Failure to properly equip and sustain military forces, leaves the U.S. open for attacks in other areas. The purpose of this paper is to identify the impact that war has on military equipment and readiness. The impact of the war on equipment is highly noticeable through the struggle to properly equip military forces, costly repair and replacement of equipment, and combat stressed equipment which caused a decline in readiness. I will identify how each of these areas has impacted military equipment and readiness.
