The battlefield has changed with the times. So has the role of women in the Military. The Global War on Terrorism and the Army's restructuring of the Brigade Combat Teams has thrust women into direct combat. Although current policy prohibits women in direct ground combat or being assigned to combat units. Despite what the current policy may read, women are in fact engaged in combat and collocated with ground combat units and sometimes working outside their MOS.
