Modern warfare continues to be influenced by the elements of weather and topography of the battlefield. Battles are doomed to fail if planning does not take into consideration the effects of weather on troops and equipment. Terrain determines how and where battles are fought. The effects greatly impact the conduct of operations, from troop's morale and their mobility to the performance of equipment on the battlefield.
