The US Army role in humanitarian operations dates back to the civil war. In over 145 years, the Army has provided continued international and domestic support. It is in our national interest to promote democracy, security, economics and human rights throughout the world. The US Army role in humanitarian operations throughout the world has and will continue to be based upon the national interest of the United States. We are no longer just Soldiers but warriors of peace, prosperity, and hope.
