Professional ethics and Army values are essential to good order and discipline. Ethics training exist in the military to ensure all Soldiers make the right decisions, especially during the most trying times. The intent is to confirm that the Noncommissioned Officer is not the primary ethical trainer for Soldiers. Soldiers receive their primary ethical lesson throughout his/her upbringing. This initial lesson is known as Personal Ethics. This was determined by an observation of Soldiers. The Soldiers personal ethics took priority over professional ethics when faced with an ethical problem. The primary and supplementary lessons on ethics are clearly distinct and are taught by two quite different systems. The primary task that the Noncommissioned Officer faces is linking these two ethical lessons. If the link is not made, a clash between the systems will cause the Soldier many ethical dilemmas.
