Is the Drill Sergeant of the Cycle competition a positive ethical or negative ethical program? The United States (US) Army developed the Drill Sergeant of the Cycle program to recognize the outstanding dedication and professionalism of the best Non-commissioned Officer or Drill Sergeant during a basic training cycle. The Drill Sergeant of the Cycle receives the honor of standing before the graduation audience in his or her Class A uniform and Drill Sergeant Hat. Under a spotlight, they stand at the position of attention and recite the Drill Sergeant Creed. This outstanding NCO also receives the Army Achievement Medal and an outstanding bullet on their NCOER. The ethical questions come in on how the unit chooses to select the Drill Sergeant of the Cycle or what actions the NCO takes to receive the recognition.
