It is the responsibility of leaders to teach ethics. Leaders are to teach ethics whether they are competent or not. That leads to another responsibility that we are to educate ourselves as leaders so that we will be competent to teach ethics. Army ethics cannot be overemphasized because the Army is the guardian of the nation's power. How the Army conducts itself ethically and morally is reflected in the morals and ethics of the individual members to society and the world.
