Throughout the history of the United States' participation in armed conflict three recurring issues have been and will continue to be paramount: logistics, training and intelligence. These three issues are important to the survivability of the Soldier and the success of the mission. If greater emphasis and time were devoted to the planning of these three areas prior to the commencement of Operation Iraqi Freedom Soldier fatalities and injuries would have been even lower than they were. This report provides some insight on a few of the issues that the U.S. Military encountered during the commencement of operations.
