During February 2003 the 1034th Quartermaster Company reported for state active duty to prepare for federal title 10 mobilization. Prior to reporting the company lost two essential members of the leadership team, the company commander and the supply platoon, platoon sergeant. As a result, the water platoon sergeant took over the supply platoon and the company received a new commander. The company spent approximately two weeks on state active duty orders conducting soldier readiness processing (SRP), vehicle movement preparations, and equipment issue. Following state active duty the company relocated to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin for additional training, federal SRP, and equipment load-out for movement to the theater of operations. The advance party arrived at Fort McCoy on February 15 and the main body arrived on February 18. The unit departed for Afghanistan on eight C-17 aircraft in early April. The body of the paper will detail the mobilization activities while the conclusion will state lessons learned which were included in the unit After Action Review during Demobilization.
