While serving as platoon sergeant in 3rd platoon 2/2 infantry in Vilseck Germany, I received orders to PCS back to Ft. Riley Kansas. The battalion also received orders to conduct a peacekeeping mission in Kosovo. The battalion trained for this mission for six months. I wanted to deploy with my platoon because I took them though the train-up. I volunteered to deploy with the company to Kosovo for this mission. This paper details me telling my mother that I volunteered to deploy with my platoon, the train-up we did prior to deploying to Kosovo, the missions to include the riot the 3rd platoon had with the Serbs, and the lessons learned from our deployment to Kosovo.
