In the following pages, you will read about the missions that the 3-101st Aviation Regiment went through during Operation Iraqi Freedom (2003-2004) and the training that they received. This was a first for an Aviation unit to undertake the missions of "Tanker Escort" and "Establishing a CMOC" (Civil-Military Operation center) for conducting SASO (Stability Augmentation Support Operations) Operations. However, with the desire and the will to do what is right the unit completed the assigned mission superbly and without incident. The training that the unit received from outside sources and from hands on experience was instrumental for the successful accomplishment of both missions. Remember this is an Aviation unit with Crew chiefs and Staff Office Personnel, i.e. S1, S2, S3, S4, Cooks, Motor pool Mechanics and Commo Personnel who have never performed these tasks mentioned in the following pages.
