This paper proposes reasons why and presents specific evidence to demonstrate that military history should be studied. Military history defines military future. To be able to lead in a world where war is not far around the corner and peace is scarce, it is imperative to know the history of not only your nation but your profession as well. Going into the field of military reconnaissance, it is important to know what those before you have endured. This paper also presents a counter argument in the defense of the opposing viewpoint.
