On today's modern battlefield, American Soldiers face ever changing threats. It's imperative for military leaders of today to study past conflicts to avoid repeating mistakes. We must study the enemies' tactics, techniques and procedures to plan for future operations. By reviewing past conflicts we will be able to plan for courses of action that optimize the American military power. This essay will prove that by studying history we will be successful. It will effectively draw parallels between past conflicts and the military operations we face today.
