"Cockades: Every German soldier wears the Imperial cockade on his headdress. He also wears the State cockade. On the cap the Imperial cockade is worn above the other. Insignia: Three patterns of shoulder knots are worn, one pattern by General, one by Field and one by Company officers. The lowest in each classification wears the knot blank, the next higher one star, the highest two stars. In addition the Colonel General wears three stars and the Field Marshal crossed batons."
