The author of this paper questions whether the Allied losses in the Gallipoli landing operations from the embarkation preparatory to landing (to include 27 April) could have been prevented or reduced by preparations for or tactical handling of the troops during the landing. The study deals with the losses in effective strength of the Allied Forces and makes a determination from an analysis of loss about facts that might influence preparedness of a force. There were many reasons given for the causes of the losses.
