Men and nations are striving to conquer space. For better or for worse space has already become a factor to be considered in long range military planning, and its importance will continue to increase. The purpose of this paper is to examine some aspects of the military significance of outer space. Headings include: propaganda significance of space achievements; two views of space in military operations; space control and world power; the "ocean space"; the "high ground" concept; unmanned satellite vehicles; manned satellite bases; lunar bases; limiting factors; and a conclusion.
