The purpose of this troop topic is to explain to each soldier the reasons he has been assigned a new mission of counterinsurgency. At the same time, it will portray what it would mean to him if he loses the freedoms he takes for granted. To help the soldier understand his role and responsibilities in counterinsurgency, the troop topic will provide him with a realistic view of the use Communists make of insurgencies to threaten the security of the Free World, the United States and the American way of life. It will also point out some of the methods and means he may have to use to accomplish his counterinsurgency mission.
