Casualty statistics shown in this report cover all battle casualties in the Korean Operation suffered by U. S. Army personnel (including SCARWAF) occurring through 27 July 1953, the date of the truce. The information in this report is based on individual notifications of casualties received and processed in the Office of The Adjutant General as of 30 September 1954. The data shown in this document represent the number of casualties incurred, and not necessarily the number of individuals affected. Unless stated otherwise, the date of occurrence of the initial casualty is used in the preparation of all data in time series presented herein. This issue of "Battle Casualties of the Army" will serve as tentative final data until a final report can be released. Casualties by Troop Program category, organizational branch, and major combat units, by type and disposition of casualty are shown. Data for the report are based on radiograms received daily by Casualty Branch, Personnel Bureau, AGO, for purposes of notifying emergency addressees. These data cover all cases of "Killed in Action", "Wounded or Injured in Action", "Missing in Action", and "Captured or Interned". Table of contents: introduction; time series; duty branch, officers and enlisted; duty branch, officers; duty branch, enlisted; grade in which serving; state of residence; and troop program category, organizational branch, and major combat units.
