Volume II of II, this volume serves as an introduction to the study of the Arab-Israeli crisis from the socio-political, historical and military points of view. It takes for its starting point a definition of the crisis as the conflict of two discordant rights locked into two inflexible attitudes. The purpose of this volume is to clarify the evolution of the conflict within the context of mandated Palestine and to demonstrate how the attitudes of the belligerents contributed to the development of military and diplomatic options for crisis management on both the strategic and tactical levels.
