Caliber .30 - 06 bolt action; five round magazine, post front sight with protecting ears; movable base for fixing lateral position, rear sight of peep-aperture type mounted on bridge of receiver; graduated from 100 to 1600 yards; no windage adjustment; modified Mauser with frontal locking lugs that cocks on forward push of bolt; bolt retaining catch; stacking swivel; bayonet lug; two sling swivels with ordnance bomb stamped on top of barrel behind front sight; eagles head on bottom of stock behind trigger guard; cleaning rod compartment in stock. Adopted and modified for U.S. from British original P1914, Caliber 303.
