From the 2002 annual command history: Command Historical Summary for 2002, Establishment of the Command: On 25 March 2002, by direction of the Secretary of the Army, the Honorable Thomas E. White, and outlined in General Order No. 1 dated 22 February 2002, the U.S. Army Accessions Command (USAAC) was activated. Throughout 2002, USAAC continued to expand and grow even as it provided "the Right Soldier, at the Right Time and Place, with the Right Competencies, for the First Unit of Assignment." The U.S. Army Recruiting Command, with a mission of 79,500 went over mission with the accession of over 79,604 men and women into the Army. U.S. Army Cadet Command commissioned 3,571 cadets during FY02; The Fy03 Start Mission of 3,900 officers was exceeded with 3,950 Second Lieutenants commissioned. The U.S. Army Training Center at Fort Jackson, South Carolina provided 40,496 enlistees in Basic Combat Training.
