From Commander's Summary: The 335th Theater Signal Command headquarters is a unique blend of Active Component (AC) 20%, Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) 31%, and Troop Program Unit (TPU) 69%, soldiers. The command also has 39 "patch wearing" soldiers matrixed to the Third Army G6. This blend of soldiers and a real world mission in Southwest Asia make this Tier 1A unit a viable asset to the United States Army Reserve Command (USARC) and to the Third United States Army (USARCENT). The 335th Theater Signal Command (TSC) is a direct reporting command to USARC which reports to Forces Command (FORSCOM). This is the peacetime command relationship. The command is allocated to US Central Command (CENTCOM) which links the command to Third U.S. Army/USARCENT. Because of this wartime allocation, the 335th TSC has a permanent forward element based in the Southwest Asia area of responsibility (AOR). This element is the primary in-theater authority for monitoring, directing, and prioritizing the activities of those agencies responsible for the operations and maintenance of fixed and tactical theater communications assets. 1996 was an extremely challenging year for the 335th (Forward) due to the bombing of Khobar Towers, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Most of our soldiers were base in the Tower Complex. Following the Khobar Tower bombing incident, several initiatives were taken to protect the force, thus effecting communication operations.
