Missions and Functions (page 16): Briefly stated, the 1106th Signal Brigade's mission during Fiscal Year 1992 was "to provide timely information services in its area of responsibility to support USARPAC, United States Commander-in-Chief, Pacific (USCINCPAC), the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS)." This mission encompassed the five disciplines of the Information Mission Area: Communications, Automations, Printing and Publishing, Visual Information, and Records Management. From 1991 supplement: I. Missions and Functions (page 9): Briefly stated, the 1106th Signal Brigade's mission during Fiscal Year 1991 was "to provide reliable, cost effective strategic, theater/tactical, and sustaining base information management support to USARPAC and its subordinate and tenant units." This mission encompassed the five disciplines of the Information Mission Area: Communications, Automations, Printing and Publishing, Visual Information, and Records Management. From 1990 supplement: Foreword (page 4): On 1 April 1989, USAISC-WESTCOM was redesignated the 1106th Signal Brigade. On 1 October 1989, USAISC-Alaska (subsequently redesignated as the 1117th Signal Battalion) joined the brigade as a subordinate command, bringing the command's authorized strength to 664 military and civilian personnel. On 30 August 1990, WESTCOM was redesignated as United States Army, Pacific (USARPAC), assuming command of the United States Army, Japan (USARJ). It was subsequently announced by USAISC Headquarters that the 1140th and 1141st Signal Battalions in Japan would transfer to the 1106th Signal Brigade by the end of Fiscal 1991. -- From I. From 1989 supplement: History of the 1106th Signal Brigade (page 2): The 1106th United States Army Signal Brigade, headquartered at Fort Shafter, Hawaii, is a major subordinate operations and maintenance command of the United States Army Information Systems Command. It is under the operational control of the United States Army Western Command. -- From Chapter 2, Overview (page 17): As with WESTCOM, the Brigade's area of operational responsibility includes the entire Pacific Command Area except for the Republic of Korea and Japan.
