From 1986 supplement, Section I - Introduction: The 1079th USAR began life as a new unit on 1 August 1986...By 16 October 1986, the official activation date, the command strength had risen to a total of eight persons. The 1079th USAR Garrison reports directly to the 79th US Army Reserve Command, located at Willow Grove Naval Air Station, Pennsylvania. The Garrison is clearly structured for Command and Control missions, but due to its organizing status, has no subordinate units currently assigned or attached to it, other than: Headquarters, 1079th USAR Garrison, Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania and Headquarters Company, 1079th USAR Garrison, Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania.
