From the 1986 annual supplement's General History and Mission: With its activation September 21,1978, 7th Medical Command became the first unit of its type in the U.S. Army. The basic mission of the 7th MEDCOM is to provide health support to US Forces during conflict and to provide peacetime healthcare for US Forces and their family members throughout Europe.
