This is an oral history interview with Major General Davis R. Gust, G-U-S-T, U.S. Army (Retired), conducted by Dr. Philip Lewis Shiman and Andrew J. Butrica of the Defense Acquisition History Project, and held on 14 August 2001. General Gust started his military career as a Aquila Unmanned Aerial Vehicle project manager and acquisition officer. He served in subordinate commands working in Electronics Research and Development Command and Missile Command. Gen. Gust’s career included army and civilian acquisition development starting in the 1980s.
