This is transcription of an oral history interview with Dr. John L. McLucas taking place in Alexandria, Virginia, on June 5th 2001. Participating as interviewers for the Defense Acquisition History Project are Walton S. Moody and Walter Poole. This interview discuss the development of Army procurement into Army acquisition program. Transcript prepared from tape recordings - Olender Reporting, Inc. Dr. McLucas served on the Boards of Directors associated with aviation and space activities in both government and private industry. Dr. McLucas was sworn in as Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration by President Ford in November 1975, serving until mid-1977. After leaving the FAA, he became the President of Comsat General Corporation. Dr. Lucas was instrumental in developing military acquisition and aviation programs for the government.
