Introduction: The natives and native carriers above all, are playing a vital part in the New Guinea campaign. Their successful handling required both sympathy and expert knowledge. It is the purpose of these notes to pass on the combined experience of a number of "old timers" - Administration officers, planters, miners, etc.- to members of the Forces who are new to the country.
