Prologue: This short history of I Corps' role in the Certification of the Light Infantry Division Organizational and Operational Concept was conceived by the Corps G3 in the summer of 1986. The rapid transition from emphasis on the High Technology Light Division to emphasis on the Light Infantry Division, which took place when General Wickham replaced General Meyer as Chief of Staff of the Army, resulted in a change of program. .
