Cover letter dated 21 February 1952: "Mr. Webb, Dr. Troyer Anderson (formerly of some mid-Wester college) was historian in Judge Patterson's office when he was Under Secretary of War. He prepared many historical papers for Judge Patterson. When Judge Patterson was later made Secretary of War a group (I think Gen. Greenbaum was one of them) decided to write a book of Judge Patterson's part in the war effort--the book to be published under the name of Judge Patterson. A Mr. Pringle did the writing and it was handed over to Dr. Anderson for completion. Dr. Anderson worked on it some time (he was a professor at Hunter College). Dr. Anderson was suddenly taken ill...manuscript was sent...I showed it to Judge Patterson--he said he didn't have time to do anything about it and I have had it ever since. Judge Patterson did do some work on it however." -- L. Mundy.
