From September of 1967 until September of 1968, Dr. Jim Finnegan served as combat surgeon assigned to the Third Marine Division [at Charlie Med on the Marine base at Khe Sanh and Delta Med at the Marine base in Dong Ha] in the northernmost provinces of South Vietnam. During the siege of Khe Sanh from January through April of 1968, he was the commanding officer of a surgical team consisting of four Navy physicians and twenty-six Navy corpsmen [at Charlie Med, Khe Sanh and Delta Med, Dong Ha] which treated over 2,500 wounded Marines"--Page 4 of cover.
