A detailed account of the first full crossing of Antarctica via the South Pole by the Commonwealth Expedition. This crossing was completed on March 2, 1958, when two groups, one traveling south from Shackleton Base under Dr. Fuchs' direction and the other traveling north from Ross Island under Sir Edmund Hillary's direction, met at Scott Base.
