Examines the experiences of the ordinary soldiers who fought for Germany, Italy and Japan during World War II. Documentary footage shows their training exercises and what it was like to fight for Rommel in Africa, to endure the bitter cold of the Eastern Front, and to battle American Marines at Okinawa and Iwo Jima. Also addresses such topics as uniforms, weapons, equipment, and respect for officers.
