"This handbook is the first in a series of commander interviews on current operations supporting the Global War on Terrorism. The intent is to capture brigade and division commander experiences, insights, lessons, and positions on topics relevant to current combat and other significant operations. Additional interviews with key staff members and sergeants major provide the reader with other beneficial perspectives. Most of the interviews are with senior Army leaders in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. There are also contributions from operations in Kuwait, Kosovo, and the Horn of Africa. These interviews offer a foxhole perspective of both the leader and the mission, and they are worth sharing with follow-on deploying forces and the institutional training Army." --P. [2] of cover.
