The work of General Indalicio Tellez (1876-1964) has the virtue of placing us in the middle of events in which the author was the protagonist and, therefore, are of first source. His look back begins with a moving story of his childhood, difficult and provincial, in Puerto Montt and Ancud in the late nineteenth century. Then, he vividly recounts his arrival in the capital and his entry into the Military School, thus beginning his military memories. The reform of the army carried out by missions of German officers at the beginning of the century is one of the main themes of his work. In it he tells us how fundamental the incorporation of the cavalry was as in the regulations of the internal regime in the army, among other muliple details of the modernization seen from Chile. ... It also includes two annexes that complement the work : the "Study on the law of recruits and replacements" written by Tellez in 1925 and his "Circular on the errors of Communism", presented to the barracks in 1931.-- back cover translated.
