Quantitative aspects of the replacement problem and general policies affecting the production and assignment of replacements are treated in Studies in the History of the Army Ground Forces No. 7, Provision of Enlisted Replacements. Detailed discussion of the administration and conduct of replacement training is contained in the histories of the AGF subordinate commands to whom responsibilities for the training of replacements were delegated: the Replacement and School Command (Study No. 33), the Antiaircraft Command (Study No. 26), the Armored Force, Command and Center (Study No. 27), and the Tank Destroyer Center (Study No. 29). The present study, tracing the development of AGF policy with respect to replacement training, concentrates on broad general problems.
