On 9 September 1960 the Commandant directed that a task force be organized and assigned the task of examining the organization of the Post and College and recommending changes as necessary to improve operations. The order appointing the task force is at TAB A. Soon after publication of the order at TAB A, the members of the task force received a project directive (TAB B) from the Assistant Commandant setting forth pertinent guidance. Since all members of the task force were unable to terminate activities abruptly in their former duty assignments, it was decided that they would close out of their respective jobs on 14 September 1960. On 15 September 1960 the task force met in Room H, Archives to begin the reorganization study. This after action report which was prepared by the organization task force records the method of attack, a chronology of events and discussion of key facets of the study, and a statement of lessons learned. Hopefully, this document may serve a useful purpose to future reorganization task groups appointed at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. The terms of engagement for such future groups undoubtedly will differ from those we encountered. However, answers to basic questions such as where do we start? -What attack should we take? What needs to be done? – are recorded in this report. Includes 34 organization charts for the reorganization of USAC&GSC/ Fort Leavenworth.
